Day 6

6/26

Arizona Diamondbacks VS Atlanta Braves

Atlanta was the last stop for me but before I head home we decided to go to 2 Braves games while we were here. This was an amazing stadium. I unfortunately didn’t see the Braves when they were here in Colorado so being able to see them at home was cool. The thing that was the best was the fact that I was able to see Chipper Jones play at home in his last season. Seeing a future hall of famer like him play at home was truly incredible. It was also very cool to see some of the signs people made saying how far they have traveled to get there to see him play. We drove in that afternoon from New Orleans and so we ended up going straight to the stadium. When we arrived we parked right across the street and walked in on the east side which was in right field.

After taking some pictures we walked over to left field to watch the Diamondbacks and to see if we could get some baseballs. No luck. After we were done we did the usual walk around and headed to our seats. We were amazed when we got to our seats in the fact that they were really good seats for a decent price. We were in the first row of 207 which was pretty much a more elevated level of the lower section. It was pretty awesome! We could not go down for autographs though because they make an announcement during BP and ask for everyone to go to their seats and to clear the section around the dugouts. This was kind of odd and I didn’t like it because I wasn’t able to get any graphs from any team. So we hung out in our seats until first pitch, but it was anything from boring. They had a lot of video footage and had an announcer that was very interactive.

They even had three guys hit golf balls for a competition and the closest to the stick won, but then Craig Kimbrel came out and swung and he was the closet but still the guy that was the closest won a 50 gift card. I just thought in my head that the Rockies grounds crew would never allow this, EVER! By the time that this was all done it was game time. They definitely have a very good IT department that put the videos together; they were great and got you pumped up!

Pitching was cool because both of the pitchers names were Hudson, Tim Hudson for the Braves and Daniel Hudson for the Diamondbacks. Unfortunately the Braves Hudson pitched longer and better than Daniel Hudson of the Dbacks. Daniel Hudson was pulled in the top of the fifth and they now say it was due to a torn elbow ligament and is now out indefinitely. This is very sad when it happens to a pitcher because we might have just seen the last pitch he ever throws. This is my second this season with Brain Wilson being the other and last season saw De La Rosa before his Tommy John Surgery.

The braves ended up chopping the Diamondbacks with a final score of 8-1. It was a very enjoyable game and I actually like being able to cheer for a home team that has been winning and them beating the Diamondbacks helped the Rockies in the end so it was a plus overall.

After the game we walked around and headed to the hotel but took a long detour of downtown Atlanta. Great game here in the ATL! Game 2 of this series and my last game of the Road Trip will be posted soon so keep an eye out for it!
